Sediment Remediation

Sediment Remediation

Oregon

To prevent the migration of site contamination into a public waterway, CAPE performed remediation of petroleum-impacted sediment on the banks of a river at a Superfund Site. The site is currently an oil and gas storage and distribution facility for refined petroleum products. CAPE performed underwater excavation and material placement, removed existing riprap and sediment, and graded the site to prepare for future construction of a slope treatment cap. To contain LNAPL and promote biodegradation, we installed a specialty geocomposite oleophilic bio-barrier (OBB) and a granular activated carbon/granular fill layer. CAPE also installed erosion and sediment controls consisting of a riprap armor layer and beach mix material for final grade.
