Scott Harris, the CEO of CAPE, has been with the company for an impressive 25 years. Growing up in the Southeast, he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Georgia Southern University, followed by a master’s in Applied Biology-Human Toxicology from Georgia Tech. His early career as a Georgia state employee conducting human health risk assessments at Superfund sites gave him a firsthand view of the impact environmental hazards have on communities.
Scott found purpose in helping the public understand the risks of living near contaminated sites and in setting cleanup goals for contractors. Inspired by the remediation professionals he worked with, Scott made the leap to join CAPE. Drawn by the company’s rapid growth and mission, and with an opportunity to support risk assessment work at Robins Air Force Base, Scott joined CAPE as a Technical Manager in the Atlanta office.
Over the past 25 years, Scott has held a wide range of roles at CAPE, each one building on the last. From Project Manager, Program Manager, and Operations Manager to Vice President of Sales and Strategy, President, and now CEO, Scott’s journey has been defined by growth, adaptability, and a deep commitment to CAPE’s mission.
Today, Scott spends much of his time working with CAPE’s talented teams to envision the company’s future—how to get there and how to align everyone toward those goals. His leadership style has evolved significantly over the years, shaped by a growing emphasis on emotional intelligence. He credits improvements in self-awareness, active listening, and pursuing stronger relationships through partnering and alignment as key to his effectiveness as a leader.
Scott’s vision for CAPE is one shared by the entire organization: “Outstanding people working together to deliver outstanding results.” He is focused on enhancing CAPE’s culture to foster unity, drive profitable growth, and diversify the company’s offerings—ensuring continued opportunity and success for team members, shareholders, and clients alike.
