Water Technology Technician

CAPE Environmental Management is seeking a dependable, hands-on Water Technology Technician to support CAPE HydroTek's growing industrial water treatment business and the deployment of MATpure® catalytic water treatment technology. This is an entry-level position that will work closely with CAPE HydroTek's engineering, scientific, other technical personnel, and sales team to prepare catalyst materials, assemble components, prepare and maintain equipment, manage shipping and receiving activities, and provide other hands-on technical and operational support.

A primary purpose of this position is to perform the practical, day-to-day activities necessary to support CAPE HydroTek's technology and projects, allowing our engineers and scientific personnel to focus on higher-level technical responsibilities. The successful candidate does not need previous water treatment experience but should be dependable, mechanically inclined, comfortable working with their hands, attentive to detail, and interested in learning.

This position provides an opportunity for someone early in their career to work alongside engineers and scientists and gain practical experience with an innovative water treatment technology being introduced into the North American industrial market.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare MATpure® catalyst material into the sizes and configurations specified by technical personnel.
• Assemble catalyst cartridges and related components according to established procedures and specifications.
• Inspect completed cartridges and equipment to confirm proper assembly and readiness for use.
• Prepare water treatment systems and related equipment for customer installations, testing, and shipment.
• Clean, inspect, organize, and prepare any returned equipment for future deployment.
• Package, label, and prepare equipment, including larger and heavier systems, for safe shipment to customer and project locations.
• Arrange outbound shipments and coordinate with shipping and freight providers as needed.
• Receive incoming equipment, materials, supplies, and returned systems and ensure that items are properly handled and stored.

• Maintain an organized inventory of catalyst materials, cartridge components, equipment, tools, supplies, and other commonly used items.
• Order or purchase supplies, materials, and equipment as directed by engineering or other technical personnel.
• Maintain a clean, safe, organized, and efficient storage and work area.
• Assist engineers, scientists, and other technical personnel with equipment preparation, testing, sampling, measurements, and other hands-on technical activities.
• Maintain basic records related to equipment, assembly, inventory, shipping, testing, and other assigned activities.
• Learn and follow established procedures for handling catalyst materials, cartridges, systems, and related equipment.
• Identify equipment, material, inventory, or work-area issues and bring them to the attention of the appropriate personnel.
• Occasionally accompany CAPE engineers, scientists, or other personnel to customer or project sites to assist with equipment delivery, setup, inspection, sampling, testing, or other field activities.
• Interact professionally with customers, vendors, shipping providers, and site personnel as appropriate.
• Take on other reasonable hands-on technical and operational responsibilities that support CAPE HydroTek's projects, technical team, and continued growth.

Qualifications

Required:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Dependable, organized, and able to follow instructions and established procedures.
• Mechanical aptitude and comfort performing hands-on work and using basic hand tools.
• Ability and willingness to learn equipment assembly, material preparation, and other technical procedures.
• Strong attention to detail, particularly when preparing catalyst materials, assembling components, and preparing equipment for use or shipment.
• Ability to work independently on assigned tasks while also collaborating effectively with engineers, scientists, and other personnel.
• Basic computer skills and ability to maintain simple records and documentation.
• Ability to safely lift and move equipment and materials associated with the position.
• Valid driver's license.

Preferred, but not required:

• Previous experience in water treatment, industrial operations, equipment assembly, manufacturing, mechanical work, laboratory support, shipping/receiving, warehousing, or a similar hands-on environment.
• Associate degree, technical school training, or other relevant technical education.
• Familiarity with pumps, piping, fittings, hand tools, mechanical equipment, or water treatment systems.
• Interest in science, water treatment, environmental technology, mechanical systems, or learning how new technologies are applied in industrial environments.

• Compensation:

  An hourly rate of $24, commensurate with experience and qualifications. This is a full-time position eligible for overtime in accordance with applicable law.

  Bonus:

  Based on position, individual performance, and company performance.

  Travel:

  Limited travel is anticipated. The employee may occasionally accompany technical personnel to customer facilities, pilot projects, or other project locations. Independent field assignments are not expected to be a primary responsibility of this position.

  Physical Requirements:

  This position involves regular hands-on work with catalyst materials, cartridges, tools, equipment, packaging, and water treatment systems. The employee must be able to stand, bend, reach, and perform assembly and equipment-preparation activities for portions of the workday and safely lift and move materials and equipment weighing up to approximately 50 pounds individually. Larger or heavier equipment will be handled using appropriate equipment or assistance.
