CAPE Environmental Management is seeking an experienced Water Technology Specialist to support CAPE HydroTek's growing industrial water treatment business and the deployment of MATpure® catalytic water treatment technology. This position helps prepare and coordinate the work required to prepare equipment, materials, documentation, vendors, and logistics for customer projects and deployments.
The Specialist serves as a central contact for upcoming HydroTek projects. The employee reviews project and deployment requirements, prioritizes various needs, and resolves routine scheduling, inventory, vendor, freight, and equipment-readiness issues. The role works closely with engineering, scientific, sales, and other technical personnel but is expected to exercise independent judgment within approved policies, budgets, and management and project requirements.
This is a planning, coordination, equipment tracking and documentation, and operational position. The employee will also assist with catalyst assembly, equipment preparation, packaging, testing, shipping and similar hands-on activities as project needs require it.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop and maintain operational readiness for customer projects, trials, pilots, demonstrations, and other MATpure® deployments.
• Review project schedules and technical requirements with engineering, scientific, sales, and project personnel and determine the materials, equipment, documentation, vendors, and logistical support needed for execution.
• Prioritize operational work across concurrent projects and adjust schedules and resources when requirements or delivery dates change.
• Coordinate equipment preparation, inspection, staging, packaging, shipment, delivery, return, and redeployment activities from initial planning through completion.
• Determine appropriate shipping methods and schedules based on project timing, cost, equipment requirements, customer constraints, and delivery risk; coordinate with freight providers and resolve routine delivery issues and claims.
• Manage inventory planning for catalyst materials, cartridge components, vessels, equipment, tools, and commonly used supplies, including establishing recommended stocking levels and initiating replenishment within approved authority.
• Evaluate routine vendor and purchasing options, obtain and compare quotes, recommend suppliers, and coordinate orders within approved budgets and procurement requirements.
• Maintain deployment schedules, equipment records, inventory records, shipping documentation, vendor information, and project-readiness status reports.
• Identify operational risks, recurring delays, inventory gaps, equipment-readiness concerns, and process weaknesses; resolve routine issues and recommend corrective actions when management or technical approval is required.
• Develop, document, and improve procedures for equipment readiness, inventory control, shipping and receiving, returned equipment, cartridge preparation, workspace organization, and related HydroTek operations.
• Coordinate directly with customers, vendors, freight providers, and site personnel on schedules, delivery requirements, access, documentation, and other operational matters.
• Confirm that equipment and materials are prepared in accordance with project requirements and established procedures before release for shipment or field use.
• Coordinate the inspection, disposition, storage, maintenance, and future availability of returned systems and equipment.
• Provide management and the technical team with timely updates on project readiness, supply needs, costs, scheduling conflicts, and issues requiring a decision.
• Occasionally travel to customer or project sites to coordinate delivery, setup, inspection, sampling, testing, or other deployment activities.
• Assist with hands-on activities such as preparing catalyst material, assembling cartridges, preparing equipment, packaging systems, receiving shipments, and supporting tests or measurements.
• Perform other related coordination, planning, documentation, and operational responsibilities that support CAPE HydroTek's projects and growth.
Qualifications
Required
• Associate degree in business, operations, logistics, supply chain, engineering technology, environmental technology, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
• Zero to two years of experience in technical operations, project coordination, equipment deployment, manufacturing operations, logistics, supply chain, water treatment, environmental services, or a related setting.
• Demonstrated ability to plan and prioritize work independently, coordinate several active needs, and make sound routine decisions with limited supervision.
• Experience coordinating vendors, purchasing, shipping, receiving, inventory, equipment, schedules, or comparable operational functions.
• Ability to interpret project requirements, equipment information, procedures, and technical direction and translate them into practical readiness plans and work priorities.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and the judgment to work directly with customers, vendors, freight providers, and internal personnel.
• Strong documentation and computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to maintain schedules, records, inventories, and status reports.
• Mechanical aptitude and sufficient familiarity with tools and equipment to coordinate and verify preparation activities.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel occasionally.
Preferred
• Bachelor's degree in operations, supply chain, business, engineering technology, environmental science, or a related field.
• Experience with water treatment systems, industrial equipment, pumps, piping, fittings, vessels, filtration, or process equipment.
• Experience developing procedures, improving operational workflows, evaluating suppliers, or tracking costs and performance.
• Experience in a growing business where processes, responsibilities, and priorities continue to develop.
Cultural Fit
• Embodies CAPE's "We, Not Me" culture and works collaboratively across technical, sales, administrative, and project teams.
• Takes ownership of commitments, follows issues through resolution, and communicates early when a decision or additional resource is needed.
• Uses practical judgment, stays organized as priorities change, and is comfortable making routine operational decisions within established authority.
• Approaches vendors, customers, and coworkers with professionalism, accountability, and integrity.
• Is curious about CAPE HydroTek's technology and interested in improving how the team prepares for and supports customer projects.
• Is willing to help with occasional hands-on work without allowing those activities to displace the role's primary coordination and operational responsibilities.
Compensation
Annual salary commensurate with experience and qualifications. This is a full-time, salaried exempt position.
Bonus
Based on position, individual performance, and company performance.
Travel
Limited travel is anticipated, generally up to 20%. The employee may occasionally travel to customer facilities, pilot projects, vendors, or other project locations to coordinate equipment delivery, setup, inspection, testing, or related deployment activities.
Physical Requirements
This position primarily involves office, coordination, and documentation work. The employee must also be able to enter equipment and storage areas; inspect equipment and materials; stand, bend, and reach as needed; and occasionally assist with equipment preparation, cartridge assembly, packaging, shipping, receiving, or field activities. The employee must be able to safely lift and move materials or equipment weighing up to approximately 50 pounds individually.
